Hertfordshire ( Keystone) Police
My experience of local police is that they seem preoccupied on small crime just to keep their arrest quota's up whilst letting more serious crime such as drug relate go unchecked!
I do support the idea of more pcso's 'pounding the beat' gathering intelligence the hard pressed front line cops can then act on more effective and an increase of civilian back up to cover administration tasks![;)]

erm, sorry I have read your post several times and I am still struggling to understand what you are trying to say.
Any chance you could make your point a bit clearer for those of us that went to Simon Balle? [:D]

I believe the performance of Herts police on the whole is pretty poor,they say crime is down but detection is up surely if one is down they are both down simples![^]

No. Crime can be down and detection up. If the detection rate followed the crime rate exactly, that would be crime rate down, detection rate unchanged.

Herts Police are an innovative force they are leaders in collaboration with neighbouring forces and also record extremely good results. We live in a very safe county due to their hard work - dont knock it !!

We all know figures can be manipulated to portray whatever conclusions you wish to show.
for example, a student accomodation block gets burgled with fifteen rooms broken into. is this recorded as one crime of burglary? or 15 victims of 15 burglaries???
another example, if less stop and searches are carried out then less people would be arrested for drugs/knives whatever, and therefore less crime is recorded making the force look better than last year! under such circumstances they are being less pro active and in fact the public are getting a poorer service.
I am interested how you form the basis of your opinion that the local police are poor. Is it personal experience or published figures??
Never been a believer in crime figures. We all know 84% of statistics are made up! [:D]
