Easter Eggs
A little early i know, but they seem to be getting advertised on tv a lot. I just wondered in the current hot topic of recycling and East Herts complete reluctance to offer kerb-side recycling of plastic, would people be reluctant to purchase easter eggs with the rediculous amount of packaging they use? I simply cannot understand the stance the council have adopted. If other councils can offer kerbside recycling of plastic and even Tesco's can offer it in their computerised machines, why can't East Herts offer it? I think it's a disgrace if I'm honest. The one place you can recycle plastic (in front of the Royal Sun Alliance building) is limited to pretty much plastic bottles and is always full to the brim.
I for one will not be buying any easter eggs or selection boxes that contain excessive packaging. Retailers and manufacturers should be forced to contribute towards disposal of any items with excessive packaging.

I totally agree. If anyone knows where to get Easter eggs without the ridiculous elaborate packaging then please share.

Is it me or do the eggs get smaller each year?
Most kids would prefer the cash....... Buys alot more chocolate and sweets!, than what comes in the overly packaged Easter Egg Boxes.

It was mentioned this morning on GMTV that Asda are promoting the fact they are doing an Easter egg this year that you can recycle all of the packaging.

Waggon Wheels are the bench-mark when it comes to sweetie size. They were huge when I was a lad.

Absolutely... smaller and thinner chocolate too![;)]
Had a Cadbury's creme egg the other day and it was almost the size of a mini-egg!
The trouble regarding packaging...if there is insubstantial packing around the egg, by the time the little ones get to feast on the choccy delight, the egg is nothing more than choccy-chips...(unless the handlers in the depots and supermarket are extremely gentle!)[:I]

Of course retailers such as supermarkets should contribute to the cost of disposing of excess packaging.........but guess who will pay for it in the long run
