Great Police Response
Since moving to the area from North London in September I have had to call the Police on two occasions. The first was when kids I suspect to have been from the youth club or whatever it is came into our carpark and slashed all the car tyres one evening. The second was when there was a fight outside of our home late one night which woke us up. Anyway, the Police response was absolutely fantastic on both occasions. They were there within minutes and kept us fully informed by phone.
Sadly some bicycles were stolen from outside of our place a few weeks back and the Police came door to door making enquiries. This is unheard of in North London where I had lived before.
The Police in the area are really first class and do a fantastic job in my opinion.
Unfortunately some little swine cut the brake cable on my bicycle sometime over the past few weeks which could have been nasty.....

Where do you live? This is probably all of the crime that has been committed in Hertford since September!

I agree, on the 1 and only occasion that I have called the police in 22 years of living around here (also from North London) they arrived at warp speed (2 cars) and caught the 2 men in the middle of a day time burglary.

It's good to see someone praising the police for good service. [:)]
Normally they only get complaints when things are poor but nothing when they do a good job. You know what i mean, the person that complains that the police took too long to respond to their call is the same person that complains about police driving past them too fast.
In fact now i'm in a happy world i'm gonna write to the head offices of all the restaurants we like and praise them all.........not complain!
you never know maybe we'll get some free vouchers [;)]

Anyway, I'm sorry to hear about the trouble you've had, but it's nice to know that despite me never having to call on them – yet – I can hope for a quick response.

Hi Brockman the only time you see the police up at Bengeo is when they are paying someone a visit, sorry not much faith in the police force here or any where in the U.K. [V]

Yep I drive around all the time with a can of beer in one hand and my truck in the middle of a dual carriage way, but as for the boys in blue they only work for who they want and only do their job for who they want to, I did have a bit of a run in with them a few years back and they refused to do their job in arresting some one who had committed a number of offences and because I complained a number of times their answer was to falsely arrest me which was thrown out at court and after an investigation 4 police officers had a black mark put on their record but they were working for the Area Commander of Hertford who took a very early retirement but not 100% sure if this was due to the inestigation but another police officer who remains at large got away with trying to pervert the course of justice and I have been on to M Prisk M.P. who now refuses to answer my letters, then people ask me why sorry no faith at all!

I have just checked on the legal case at the Court of Human Rights that the case against the U.K. government for keeping innocent peoples DNA has be won and the government has lost, so does anyone know how you go about asking for your DNA back?

As`someone who has mixed experience of policing in Hertford, I'm encouraged by manaton's post. Of course the true purpose of police is to prevent crime, but it being unrealistic to expect 100% success, a prompt and helpful response when it does occur is the next best thing.
