Thin Mercury today!
Noticed the dear old Mercury's a bit thin again today (12th December)- lack of advertising due to the credit crunch..
..or is the news now all here on the Forum?

I think the last few issues have all been like the "Christmas" issue, very thin. But I think the news section has been as thick as it usually is.

Yes, the local press can be thin this time of year but the credit crunch is definately hurting. The bread and butter of revenue, the classified sections, are all taking a big hit which is causing some local papers around the country to close!
Keep the Mercury going by buying your copy every week!
PS: I don't work for the Mercury but I do work in local press!

Absolutely. The Mercury is a fine example of incisive journalism and hard hitting local news. Shame it rarely has the chance to use either. The best bit in my opinion is Keeping up with Jones' with Bob Jones (who?). Such topical and pithy wisdom every week. Can't wait for this week's witty instalment.
