Christmas in or around Hertford
Every year a small group of us get together around Christmas with our other halves for a meal. I decided to take the bull by the horns and arrange it this year. Can anyone recommend places that they have been for a meal that may be suitable.
The group could be between 8-14 people, we like to have a good chat so nothing too noisy. We live between Buntingford & Cheshunt, anywhere in between would be OK. We're looking for something for £25-£30 per head.
In the past we've done Hatfield House, The Overtures at Castle Hall, the Waterside and The Feathers.

i went as a guest to the hertford club the other week about 8 for dinner good atmosphere albeit the decor needs updating, pleasent staff. think you need to a member to get you in. i don't know how you become a member though, does anyone know the secret handshake.....

Was talking to a member of the Hertford Club at the weekend on that very subject.
Apparently you need to be proposed and seconded by an existing member,
There is a one off joining fee of around £50 and an annual membersip fee of about £50.
Before anybody asks I am not a member so I can't get you in.

The Roebuck Hotel in Ware is nice.

Tewinbury Farm - we had our office Xmas do there last year and it's excellent; good food in generous portions and good service. Can't comment on the bar prices though as it was all on an account.
It can get a bit noisy though (Especially when we're there [:D][:D] )It might be worth looking at the restaurant rather than going for a table in the function rooms?

Even more so now that they have refurbished the restaurant. We meet there once a week and find that the food is generally very good and the service and welcome is first rate.

You might wish to consider the Sow and Pigs at Thundridge.
It is on the old A10 so handy for the locations of your party.
Good food, Adnams beer and the waiting staff are pleasant and attentive. They have a flexible table lay-out that will permit the options you are looking to seat.
