Foxes

Has anyone else seen foxes in the Ware Road? I saw one cross the road from Townshend Street at about 10:30pm. It stopped and looked at me and then scampered away.

Not there but we do get them in the garden here in Bengeo and I have seen "monkjack" deer near County Hall. I regularly go out early (5am) through Lttle Berkhamstead and Newgate Street and you see everything then, foxes, deer, badgers, rabbits, mostly alive but occasionaly victims of road kill unfortunatley.

Seen foxes down on North Rd., and muntjack deer are also seen in the Mill Mead area sometimes. Muntjack get everywhere these days as there have been sightings in Parklands Walk (the old railway line from Finsbury Park to Alexandra Palace) in north London.

Saw another one (or maybe the same one) by the car showroom in Railway Street this evening - practically in the town centre. They're getting very brave.

Where's the local hunt when you need them?

For those of you interested in our local wildlife, check out this book - a superb guide to the natural history of the county. Plenty of pictures, thorough historical record etc. Well worth a read... http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/1840190124/qid=1103017825/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_0_1/026-1147726-6821268

for those of you who love animals please do not read on... I briefly saw a badger at the end of the dual carriageway just before you get to the last roundabout where the Police speed check van is normally parked in the middle of the road. about 2am i saw it I hit it I killed it and it killed my car! ripped away the underside of my car power steering went and i think it effected my breaks as I only just managed to stop the car before going into the roundabout! those things are big i tell you! there should really be an animal crossing invention, will be in my garage...
