My neighbour has just painted the back wall of her garden or tagged the back wall of her garden,her landlord Aldwyck H.A. has been to see her and asked her to paint over it but instead she just got the painter/tagger back to finish the job and this is quite a large picture and to me personally it is an eyesore and is bring the area down or Bengeo down and I would appreciate any comments?

Firstly, there is a difference between a 'tagger' and a graffiti artist. One just writes their 'tag' with a torch pen or spray can, the other generally has talent, even if it's not to your taste. Since, from your description, it seems to be on her landlord's property, the issue is between her and her landlord.

As the property is not hers and she has been instructed to remove it, she's possibly in breach of her tenancy agreement. Are you sure it's actually the tenant who is responsible for this, either directly or indirectly? How long has she occupied the property?

Wow, whoever is responsible for this is indeed talented. I like it. Technically, it's good, but here's little beyond that. However this issue is not about the artistic merits of the work but about the location, in my opinion. This is a residential area, not an art gallery. I see parallels with loud music - forcing the art you appreciate on others who may not be so appreciative. Some may draw (pardon the pun) similarities between this street art and the Scooby Doo bridge. However, the immediate vicinity of the Scooby Bridge is not a residential area. Other comparisons might be made with Banksy, but Banky's art has a message, this doesn't. Banksy's art reflects the metropolitan environment it inhabits, this doesn't. Whoever is responsible for this should have more respect for the neighbourhood and practice their art where it would be more appreciated.

We are all going to trying to find it now!! I agree they are talented but it is not really the place for it. Has to be the landlord that deals with it I would think, is it the entire end wall of the house, thats what it looks like in the pic.

Talented, BUT AWFUL, would sit better in the inner London, why do it anyway? If it's causes a problem to the Landlord he should take action, if the tenant does not clean it up; I know I would, if any of my tenants done such an act of vandalism I certain would take action! I think the kids would have nighmares looking at the figurehead, lower left hand side.

Sorry guys, but I personally like it & arguably beter than a bare brick wall. But I suppose "personally" gives the game away; each to their own & if you don't like it & have to look at it all day then... At the same time I frequently see much larger advertising hordings that I find considerablly more offensive. Not sure about the kids & nightmares though, havn't they been watching the BBC Olympics coverage?! And why would it be okay in "inner" London but not here??

Thank you all for your input, the wall in question is the end wall of the garages that back onto our gardens, I have reported this by email to Nigel Brook at the Council but have not heard anything from him or the council,the fence that you can see in the photo is her fence and not mine she is also refusing to fix this,this women is a neighbour from hell and a few years back I would have put her in the top 10 in the country,I have had to face down hells angels and the like, she would hold all night partys with drink and drugs and no one would lift a finger to stop and it was more quiet here during the day that the night,hence my name night owl

I am surprised the Council has not done anything about this! my friend has some graffiti on her side wall, received a letter from the Council saying that 'if she did not clean it up she would be fined £200.00' she had to pay out for graffiti paint remover and scrub it clean, then the little #/'@s came back tagged again, as they call it, out with her can of anti graffiti again..........

Hello SMT Thank you for the info I will try and contact the council again after the b/holiday, but did you know that it takes the Environmental Health 40 mins to get to Hertford as they are based in Enfield, I have had all of them around and none of them were much help, I have had to wait for the party in question to grow up and the only thing that was open to me was to put in for a housing transfer and that was about 6 - 7 years ago and that was on medical grounds as my wife is ill and I am her carer and as for the police that is another story which resulted in 4 officers getting their wrists slapped/black mark on their records and the Area Commander for Hertford taking early retirement but not sure if this was linked to my complaint but he was the one behind it and now it is at government level and may well affect every police force in this country with a bit of luck, night owl

I would like to request that whoever did this gets the job of repainting th Hertford North footbridge and the monstrosity of a concrete gravel board garden fence to the left of it as you cross the bridge from the station. I'd much rather see decent art than sh1tty tags and so-and-so is a fat sl&g grafiti

The bridge is covered in graffiti advertising "SF7" and the "Sele Farm 7", some form of local gang, plus those who think they are "pussies" or "aren't hard". Theres's one image which shows an adult holding onto a kids arm saying "you're coming with me" (complete with comedy penis), and the child screaming "help!", which is bad taste in its own right, but more so coming from a kid.

I did report it to Sele School, and to be fair the response I got also copied in a police officer (or PCSO, I forget now), but I must say they didn't seem that interested. Indeed I believe the immediate response was that it "probably wasn't children from Sele", which common sense says is quite unlikely. Not like it would be hard to check, the names of loads of kids are on the bridge.

Well no, my point was that I was told it probably wasn't kids from Sele School, but it wouldn't be difficult for a teacher to walk down there, jot down the names, and see if they're pupils there - without telling me straight away it "probably wasn't". Of course it isn't kids writing down their own names, it'll be their peers who are probably in the same school. They won't be able to pin it on anyone, but a mention in 'assembly' or whatever it's called these days wouldn't go amiss, so they know their teachers are aware. The victims probably know who wrote it anyway.

Didn't find it. Went up and down Maltesers Street about four times and didn't catch a glimpse of it. Ho hum. I do like the treasure hunt though. How about these Bengeo street clues?
