Bengeo Post Office
I cannot see any mention of the meeting at The Bengeo Club for the proposed closing of Bengeo Post Office, I assume it's at 6.45pm on Monday the 4th August, can anyone enlighten me on this????
I understand that the PO and the Co-op are workig together on this trying to get disabled parking bays in the Club car-park and a walk through to the shop and PO.

Could not go myself much as I wanted to, as I had an appointment with a customer but I am told it was VERY well attended.
Anyone know what outcome there was if any

Yes Marilyn it was! I urge everyone in the area to write to the Post office Networking Development Manager - Laura Tarling at consultation(at)postoffice.co.uk or write a letter to Laura Tarling, FREEPOST CONSULTATION TEAM, even if you do not use this service, I just feel it's another local service taken away, we have quite a high percentage of old, vulnerable and pensionable people in the area, also our nearest PO's would be Sele Farm, Hertford Town or Hornsmill - carbon footprint comes to mind!!

Agreed, absolutely essential to make a factually based submission to Laura Tarling.
I have never seen so many people walking down Bengeo St as yesterday evening. I reckon there were 200 people in the bottom bar of the club and spilling out into the entrance lobby. It was an impressive display of community feeling, lets hope it is translated into a positive result from the consulation. I am no fan of our MP or councillor's party but I reckon they did a good job of keeping the meeting on topic and focussed on the real issues at hand.

Good, I did send my e mail as soon as it was first suggested it was closing, hope there is more we can do to save it, I use the post office quite frequently and would be very sorry to see it go, have seen it move a few times from the corner of Tower Street, opposite the Pub, in the Pub, next to the Co-Op and in the Co-Op!.

I thought some people would like to know I have just heard 9.30am this morning that Bengeo Post office has been saved and is still open for business............... quite a victory!!!!

Great news, just wish they could now come to some agreement with the club so that their car park can be used.

Marilyn, I understand that the Club has agreed to rent out two spaces ( I think for disabled)for the Post office/Co-op I also think there is going to be access from the Club car park.
