Maybe, the strength and heat of local hostility to their planning practices having so far exceeded the strength and heat of the coffee, they've decided to declare an independent island state. Expect gun boat patrols soon.

I've not done any substantive research but I suspect this is what is preventing you from seeing the photos. The photos that John posted are hosted on his own server, whereas the test image I used is hosted on the DHO server. I suspect SES is reluctant to display images that are hosted outside of the site you are visiting.

I'm assuming there's a blocked drain somewhere as the barge doesn't look flooded, so assuming the river didn't burst

A couple of years ago after similar serious flooding the drain system was inspected and instead of one they found two septic tanks down there; both of which had become silted up - from debris and tree roots growing into the system. They were cleaned out eventually. When the system works well all the excess water is channlled into the Lea by means of the iron toilet seat cover as shown in the photo below taken a couple of weeks back when more rains fell.
