Allotments...
Hi,
Any allotmentholders here?
I see they did an inspection this week, and have sent out letters to some ( myself included! ) relating to state of plots! I guess there's now heavy demand which wasnt there before.
Anyone else get threatened with eviction? ( Clearly this is why im after a strimmer, in my other post! :) )

Hiya,
I'm a new allotment holder - I was told there was heavy demand for all the allotments by the council when I was after one at Christmas. There's a 2 year waiting list for the Folly Island ones! They've actually created 10 new allotments on the Cromwell Road site to try and give everyone a bit of land. Are you on the Cromwell Road site aswell? I did notice a few letters on some of the allotments there.

Mrs P had a plot on the folly island site 3 years back (the one with the big bay tree at one end). The next door plot was overgrown with brambles then and still was when we walked past it a few weeks ago. It was (and still may be) rented by a very elderly gentlemen who got a letter from the council the same time as Mrs P did (and she'd officially had her plot for the grand total of 5 days!) so I don't think they'll boot you off any time soon!

i'm in hertingfordbury, so out of town, it's a massive site, and from what i can see there are spaces!
Newbie - have you been to the north road shop on sundays yet? it's open to all hertford allotment holders and is pretty good - they're really friendly up there too, very jealous, it's an excellent site that one :)
