Has anyone else received a letter this mornng from the East & North Herts NHS Trust / Lister Hospital explaining that The Lister would like to apply for foundation status and inviting them to become a member of the trust? The letter says that in becoming a member I can vote in the election of governers and stand to be elected as a governer. There are perks to this - NHS staff discounts on "a wide range of goods and services" (sounds like a marketing tool to me). Has this letter gone out to every household?

I think it has. They will probably use the results from this to justify the downgrade (and no doubt eventually closure) of the QE2.

I got one addressed to me with the wrong title and using the address of a relative where I have never ever lived - where are they getting their details from?? Strange.

I have a letter from the Trust addressed to someone who can't have lived here for at least 6 years, possibly longer as it's not the person I bought from, and have just put 'not known at this address' on the envelope ready to put back in the post. I guess what's described here must be what's in the envelope - they must be working off a very out-of-date mailing list.

I thought they had written to me personally because someone had told them I was Governor material.[B)] By the way Arty - did you hear about the fight in the biscuit tin? I too received a letter to my address but with the name of my partner on who does not actually live at my address full time and everything official goes through his other address. As he has been a patient of Lister recently I rang yesterday to query this and was told that the details were gathered from a mailing list company and not taken from patient records. I did ask if I would be receiving a letter but was told that not everyone would be receiving one, just possibly one person in every household.

My Mum got one which was correctly addressed although she has never been to Lister but one was sent to my sisters house for someone who moved away about 6 years ago.

Gov departments are very good at this. I used to get letters addressed to "Mr George Deceased", until I rang them up and they assured me they had updated their list. Then I started getting letters to "Mr George Notatthisaddress".
