Sport Relief Run A Mile
Anyone got any first-hand experience of these Sport Relief events?
I just started running, primarily to try and stop my heart and lungs deteriorating (I'm nearly 50 now), but I've found that I'm actually enjoying it, and want to push myself further..
I notice that the Sport Relief thing has options to run 1, 3 or 6 miles. I quite fancy the 6 miles, as a challenge to myself really, as I've been gradually building up my distances. I reckon I can do it, but I don't want to find that it's fielded by die-hard, dead serious club runners who'll leave me way behind the pack, humiliated and wishing I'd gone for the shorter distances..
So I was wondering what sort of level these things are pitched at?

I'm 51 and I've done some charity runs over the past few years. They're great fun, and so is building up to your chosen distance. I entered a couple of 10k 'races' which is just over 6 miles. (I used to run from Bengeo to Ware and back along the towpath to train. It's about 10k).
I'm not that fit,- just a slow jogger really. I'm sure most of the Sports Relief runners will be similar.

Sports Relief is all about having fun Pez. Go for it. There will be some serious runners I would have thought but also a lot of people that are running for the sake of it, maybe even in fancy dress etc etc.
Is there a Sports Relief run in Hertford this year?

Not in Hertford, no. I guess the nearest ones to us are St Albans and Watford, though there are also runs in Chelmsford and Edmonton.
