Got vouchers for some quite appalling service there a few months ago . Disinterested & abrupt didn’t come close to describing it.. And of course I didn’t, after that want the vouchers (although I have to say it was a reasonable move on their part!) Mrs. CP used them in the end. ..

A few weeks back I saw two women order a couple of soups to be nuked to eat in. When they were served the girl serving dropped a roll on the floor and then just picked it up, put it on the plate next to the soup and took it to the table.

I see that the Bishop's Stortford Caffe Nero has opened without planning consent and is now applying retrospectively for change of use to A3. Same old story.

This is how the muti-nationals just get bigger and bigger, pushing into towns and applying for planning permission later, knowing the local planning office can do nothing after the event. This is exactly what Starbucks are doing, opening next to the Serendipity, in my view Serendipity is better than Nero's and Starbucks put together, one offers poor service and bitter coffee (Nero's)the other sells the mmost expensive coffee in the country and they both provide food made in the middle of the night made by faceless individuals. Serendipity for me every time, good service, good food, value for money what more does anybody want?

I don't personally like Nero or Serendipity for that matter. The point though is there is personal choice and enough people must like Starbucks for them to be so successful.
