Local Sports
Having just read new post RE Hertford F.C it made me wonder about the local rugby.
I am a massive fan of Saracens and always have been, but don't get to see them often now they are in Watford. Is there a local or nearby lower league team with friendly support? What are Hertford like? I remember playing dsre I say it ... against them a few years back!
Not playing any more and lost touch with the grass roots side of rugby so any info that you may be able to share would be great.
Also, currently looking for a good Gym but at a reasonable price. Live off Ware road, but the one (sorry forgotten its name) next to Focus and Matalan seems a bit out of my price league. Is there anything closer than the Gosling in welwyn with similar facilities? Well I need a Gym and a badminton court ideally.

I've been down to Hertford RFC (on Hoe Lane) twice in the last week to visit the squash club that is based there, and it has been heaving on both occasions. It seems there is quite a decent support for the club.

Can't comment about whether they are any good or not as I don't have a clue about rugby.
As for a gym/badminton court, try Hatfield Leisure centre in the Oxlease area of Hatfield. Not sure of the gym prices, but the annual centre membership and court hire is cheaper than Gosling (although it has to be said that the leisure centre is more shoddy.)

Hertford RFC have been promoted in recent seasons and play in National 3 South.
Re. sports centre, you can try Wodson Park.

As an ex-player at Hertford RFC I can assure you that it is a friendly place to watch rugby on a nice Saturday (though i go on nasty ones too). They run 5 senior teams and on a Sunday there are hundreds of kids there from under 7's on up. A lot of people take their kids on a Sat. so they can run around, play footy etc.
The first team were just promoted to their highest ever level...3 divisions below Saracens,Wasps etc. and are holding their own at this level.

Look into Wodson Park in Ware. There, I reckon is is probably about 10 minutes from where you live, it has got good badminton courts and a badminton club. It has some good classes on as well.
I do have to say however, that Cannons is well worth the money for the pool and the steam room, especially the steam room.

Steam room is great. But it seems to empty quickly whenever I use it. Are you supposed to leave your trunks on?

Ok thanks all good info, will check out Hertford, had already seen that they have been doing very well just wondering about the support for the club, as i have found this to swing from one extreme to another. Stevenage for example used to often turn into one big brawl on a Sunday afternoon! Not a great example! Will certainly look into Woodson Park as its unknown to me. Will take Gosling over Hatfield leisure centre its a bit too rundown for me! Many thanks for the help

Justin I will certainly give you a shout on here after xmas, I'm in terrible shape after a minor break to my back playing rugby a few years ago, once I get back into it, it would be great to have a game! will stick with the girlfriend untill I can last for more than 20 mins, I have at least started to beat her! but then half her shots do tend to go backwards so it is kind of embarrassing loosing to her!!
