I need some new net curtains but shops such as John Lewis seem to take up to 6 weeks to sew them. Can anybody recommend a local service which can sew them quicker?

I've always thought that net curtains are for nosy people who don't want to be seen peering out of the window. Most pointless of all have to be the sort of net curtains that go up in a little hump in the middle of the window, then down again. WHAT'S THE POINT OF THOSE?! Dust gatherers.

The majority of the houses on this particular street had net curtains [xx(] That can be tonight's project - net curtain spotting in Hertford. I shall take a notebook with me and wear my anorak [:D]

quote:Well, Palmer Road has won tonight's "Most net curtains" award, closely followed by the north side of Ware Road - not surprising as most people will be looking down into their living rooms, but the south side of Ware Road didn't have so many nets, possibly because passers by can not see so easily into their windows?

If we see them mysteriously disappearing we could possibly assume that they read this forum an are now consumed with embarrasment or maybe more will appear from those that are envious [:D]

Checked on road (not too far from the Avenue) All appeared to have nets apart from one set of office type blinds and one 'naked' window - I can only assume being appropriate weather they were fluttering on the washing line ready to be re-hung (shouldn't they expire at the orginal hanging) or maybe 'off with their heads' There are even some hanging in a Garage of someone I know who shall remain nameless.

Why the attack on net curtains? Everyone has different tastes - it'd be a boring world if not. I personally prefer nets/voiles - let daylight into my house without everyone else being able to see in!

OOOh Blueberry. I've just bought a new sewing machine and I am willing to have a go at making them for free. Never done any sewing before other than make and sew up the envelope on vintage aircraft wings. Am a dab hand at the old "balloon stich" if they aren't wide enough !!!
