Was it my imagination, or were there more helicopters buzzing around yesterday (Sunday)? They appear to be louder than aircraft, probably because they fly lower. There appears to be a growing number flying over Hertford spoiling lovely summer's afternoons..

I heard a few aircraft buzzing around but the only thing that spoilt my peaceful afternoon at home was the incessant squealing and shouting of the neighbours' kids outside my window, which went on for hours. At least the noise from a helicopter only lasts a couple of minutes...

I wish I could find a place without all the bloody kids. Okay fair enough they are allowed to play and stuff but where I live is a cul-de-sac and they boot around a bloody great huge football and start booting it and it smashes into all my plants. Also, if I am driving up the road and they are playing football I slow right down, and one little "brad pitt" stands in the road in my way and slowly walks out the way! Or pretends to throw the ball at my car. Anyway, rant over. On topic - Yeah, I heard lots of low flying aircraft yesterday

Alot of the heli's come in and out of Hanbury Manor in Ware .. there must have been a 'corporate' on there this weekend. Places to go that are 'kid-free' .... 1) The Ram Inn .....2) All schools when the snow falls .... 3) Afternoon tea at the Age concern.

I quite liked all the aircraft around yesterday, perfect day for it. Someone was having fun in a light aircraft circling Hertford, wished I was up there instead of hanging out the washing.

We have light aircraft and helicopters coming over all day. We are use to it as we live take off/ landing path of Panshanger..

I do agree we all love children to have fun, laugh and play but it is the screaming that gets to you, we have similar children close by on lovely summer days who never seem to stop screaming.

I think every road has some, doesn't bother me too much except during holidays when round my way it can go on until 10pm or later.

Helicopters are only briefly overhead, though there seems to be more recently. Helicopter lessons, perhaps. As for children, yes they need to be able to play, but they also need to learn moderation and consideration for others. The two are not mutually exclusive.

Does anyone have any idea why a Chinook helicopter, presumably military, was circling around Bengeo and surrounding area about 5 mins ago?

Yes, I too have often seen them fly over Hertford, but was just curious as to why this one circled the town a few times before flying off in what I think was a North East direction

I saw the Chinook! As ugly and noisy as they are, it looked beautiful doing the maneouvres it was doing and I was only too pleased to be able watch it from Bengeo! A free air show!

Discovered why we may have had some Chinook helicopters over us over the past few weeks. Grandad DQ was in the RAF and was very much watching the 25th Anniversary of the end of the Falklands Conflict yesterday and when they had a fly-past at Buck House he went into great detail as to where they would have come from (airbases that is!) and that he thought that was what the Chinook was doing over our way, they go out and down little recces and practice formation flying and such like.. So chances are we may not see Mr Chinook again.. but there you go.. thought you might like to know!

Problem solved ... I think .. Apparently, one of the reasons why there are so many helicoptors in the sky is that there is a Helicopter maintanence company in Colliers End .. they service and repair. Owners are flying from all directions to visit this place... SO if any of you want your helicopter repaired... go to Colliers End!

On saturday around mid dayish a helecopter crashed into the meads near the lock, it came from hanbury manor and 10 mins in the air the pilot was in trouble and was somthing wrong with his engin. luckily for me i filmed it as it just touched the ground and some guy from the herald newspaper was there and asked me to do some photos. the full story should be in this weeks herald if you get it for free

2 more low-flying chinooks today(11.20am)... PLUS, did anyone see that sea-plane that flew over on Saturday lunchtime?.... any idea what type it was?
