Noises on Sunday Night

Sitting here in my eyrie at Newland Gardens, I can hear what sounds like revving car engines, followed by the squeeling of brakes and tyres in what could be some enlightened idiot performing handbrake turns.....? It's hard to tell where the sound is coming from (our living room faces towards Ware). It could be coming from Tesco's car park OR be an echo coming from Ware. Can anyone else hear it? Is there anybody there.....?

I would guess that the car parks of Caxton Hill or Foxholes Business Park are being used for engine tuning.

At the moment, the "race track" is Merchant Drive, at the end of Mead Lane. There is rubber burning, handbrake turns and drinking galore down there most nights now. That would tie in with the direction you are hearing the sounds in.

Thanks - that makes perfect sense as it's very difficult to tell from here. We knew it couldn't be from Caxton Hill as the noise seemed to be coming from quite a way off and did think it might be coming from Tesco as they're closed on Sunday nights, but we heard it again last night too. Is it the same crowd that hang around in the Tesco car park?

Heard the racing noises last night in Bengeo - definitely coming from the east so would fit with Dude's description.

I didn't hear anything last night but that could've been due to the wind being in the wrong direction. The noise is very eerie at this distance, and probably a pain in the a*&e if you have the misfortune to live near it.
