The Silver Fox (Hertford Heath)

The food at The Silver Fox was very good until recently. However, on my last visit it took half an hour for the food to arrive (lunchtime!) and it was a little undercooked. I've also heard from someone else recently who had a less than satisfactory meal there.

Me too. A few months ago though. The menu said grilled sea bass with new potatoes and salad. What arrived was sea bass which I am sure was not grilled, but fried, undercooked chips and peas which were swimming in, and tasted of, cheap margarine. I did mention it to Gill the landlady but as it was a free meal in exchange for a favour I had done her, I really couldn't expect recompense.

Seems fairly obvious to me - "it was a free meal in exchange for a favour I had done her". It's a good enough explanation. [:)]

I ate there for their Abba tribube night out! It was terrible. It took 2 hours to get our main course, which was a set menu pre-booked two weeks before! Portions looked like they'd been cut in half to make it go further as well. The time before (just before Christmas), I had a steak which was supposed to be medium rare and came out well done. Never again.

Some colleagues had lunch there today. One meal was served cold, the lasagne portions appear to be shrinking and the steak and kidney pie with chips and vegetables came with chips and salad - with gravy on the salad. The pie itself was described as "chewy"
