The lounge at the Salisbury (to the left as you walk in), although pushchairs are not permitted as it's a pretty small room.

At the barge we welcome children of any age provided they are well behaved (ie not running around the place) until 7 pm, then they have to be outside, and then off the premesis altogether by 9pm.

Can someone provide the details of the law regarding children in Pubs, seems to be a lot of confusion regarding the new law which came into force during the summer, Rooster you may be able to help on this.

I don;t think pubs are the right places for kids, I feel they have a lot of energy (the kids) and running around adults who have come out to escape their kids perhaps and enjoy a joke or two or use bad language is not something I would wish to take a kid into... BUT I have friends who are now single parent families and its very difficult to just dump off kids if you want to have some sort of social life and a drink on a Sunday lunchtime. There are child friendly places but I don't use them, I want a crying free environment, but I do think there needs to be some pubs where kids can be taken to and run around a garden maybe.

Because a publican allows children on the premises, by stipulating this concession on his/her premises licence, it does not mean that the pub is overrun by them. Where has anyone violated your freedom to trade, or encouraged anyone not to visit certain pubs? Using your logic, Victor and Tigger could just as well be encouraging families to visit family-friendly pubs.

Rooster, i believe you are reading Victors post incorrectly. He is asking for pubs that have a child friendly policy so he can visit with his family!!! For those people who do not like pubs with children in then there many places with a no children policy.

Yes I do take my son to the pub every now and then and the 2 I mentioned are the ones I have taken him to. The topic was really started to give parents an idea where they can take there kids after reading about Baroosh (which I already know, as had already been turned away) In the summer, I may even take a stroll to the Black horse with my wife and son now I know you are child friendly, as long as you have managed to climb down off of your high one by then [:D]

for me im in two minds ...... totally depends on the moment ..... if im out for a night out id rather not see any children which in my haunts would be baroosh,Snug and sometimes Bar11 ...... but saying that i was having a coffee in the Snug the other morning and there were a few mums with new borns and i didnt mind at all because it was early morning and the mood was right for it, it was more of a chilled out coffee shop rather than a pub (plus there were yummy mummy's hehe) i think more pubs are turning into cosmopolitan bars as our culture is changing, to offer a wider range of products to a wider range of customers ..... because if not, you cannot survive in the business just selling beer ...... so during the day i dont mind ..... at night i prefer not ..... but i havent seen any children at all in the snug in the evening as the mood changes to a adult bar. I have never seen children in Baroosh or bar11 in the evening but i think they are strictly over 21 so that would be why.
