Hey all, You guessed it, once again, SCUM (other words for them but I wont use that language on here) have smashed in the glass at the bus stop on Gallows Hill. How many times is this now? isnt it about time something is done, perhaps a camera is put to keep an eye on it? Im sick and tired of driving past it seeing glass all over the floor. Anyone else with me? what can be done about it? its mad that its about 1/2 minutes from the Police Station.... :( sigh. Simon

Steve, how do you know it is kids from Pinehurst? It could be OAPs from Bengeo. It's the green NTL boxes that seem to cop it on Sele Farm. Saw one the other day that had had its concrete base ripped out of the ground. That must have taken some kicking.

Glass in the bus stop by the hospital is no more also. On another thread i suggested the reintroduction of stocks and a dose of public humiliation for mindless morons that do this. Anyone think it's a bad idea?

Steve: I did have to laugh at your comment-even though i must add i do live on Pinehurst myself (well in the new part at the back by mcd's!) It was rather funny and usually i'd get defensive about it! But it does seem fitting! I have had to twice this weekend go out the front and shoo away a group of 'skater boys' who don't even live in the close i live in-as they were making such a noise it was stopping my little one having his nap! They were really polite about it but 5minutes later they seemed to have forgotten and i once again had to go and ask them to go back to where they live! Not only the noise but i was worried too about the cars getting damaged. Everytime we walk up to the shop i notice somebody had graffittied (sp?) my son's name on the phone box and being 18mths old i am sure it wasn't him! It makes everywhere look so messy and when we walk into town and past the bus stop its such an eye sore when broken. A camera is definately needed.

Whilst in no way excusing the antics of the pond-life who seem to find this type of behaviour therapeutic - I think we need to consider the following options: (1) Stop providing bus shelters of this design - i.e. with any glass/windows in them. Instead, just have a stand or even do away with it completely and have a signpost only (I can appreciate that would penalise the sensible majority in the cold) (2) If they are going to keep this style of shelter, why not fit it out with some toughened plastic/glass that is virtually indestructible (unless an armour-piercing missile is fired at it)? (3) Obviously go for either of the options above and also have the possibility of stocks, floggings, fines etc. to act as deterrent. Cameras seem to be a waste of time as even if the little dears are captured on there - are our esteemed constabulary/CPS actually going to do anything to punish these individuals? Oh yes, they can have an ASBO - that'll do the trick! I also should point out that as someone living on the Foxholes side of the road, I think we shouldn't jump to conclusions that the perpetrators of this mindless vandalism must come from Pinehurst. There are plenty of middle-class scum littering our town centres these days.... Thoughts/comments please?! [:(!]

Hertfordian. The vandals may well be from Pinehurst or may be not. I don't think that is the question. The source is the question. Some adults have a fundamental, systematic lack of respect for everyone. That transpires to the children. My late Nan said, "You have been given an Urn. You'll become a good man by learning the value of respect, earning the value of respect and then give away all that is within that Urn". It took me a while to understand that statement. My parents did the rest. More Police should be the case though nowadays. As said, I'd prefer 1 more Police Officer with powers to detain than 2 Community Police Officer with absolutely no powers.

Maybe it is middle-class vandalism, a comment on the artistic merit and poor asthetic design of structures erected for advertising purposes, masquerading as public amenities.

Two "lads" were seen damaging the bus stop on Stanstead Road at midnight on Wednesday 31/01/07. One wearing a black hoody who ran off towards Wildman Court and one with a shaved head, wearing a white hoody who ran off towards the Pinehurst Estate. If you saw these males and know who they are or where they live please contact me on 01992 533535. Regards, PCSO Alison Hutchin

Alison These "lads" could account for a few within the town. Can I have a bit more of a description than a black hoody, or a shaved head? James

Thanks for putting the effort in to find out who these little scumbags are! :)

Unfortuunately if the little scumbags are found hands are tied. The Police will do their job and the magistrates will play nicely, nicely. If the parents discipline them they will probably report their parents and they will get done for hurting the little cherubs. I do not condone violence, but I would certainly have been scared of the threat. Wait 'till your Dad gets home was enough!

Dont get me started Tigger, so much is wrong now...mostly its "Human Rights" that is to blame....when my dad gave me a bloody great smack it taught me that I erm, did something wrong!
