Where can I buy Black Bun locally ?
My Dad has asked for Black Bun for Christmas this year and I'm trying to figure out whether I can buy it anywhere locally. For those that haven't heard of it Black Bun is a Scottish cake eaten at New Year. I've found lots of mail order sites but they all want you to place a big order. Can't seem to find it in the supermarkets or even Edinburgh Woolen Mill.
Any ideas anyone ?

You could try Farrow and Farrow (website and shop) in Hertford. I know they stock special Scottish black and white puddings.. so maybe if you call them or email them???

Thank you. I've tried Waitrose, didn't see it, but I might have another look. Farrow and Farrow sounds like a good idea.

What are your baking skills like? Just tried Goggle, a few recipies, looks interesting - I might even be tempted to get the baking tin out and have a change from the normal.

I had thought about that. It all depends if I find myself with enough free time to risk trying out a new recipe. Maybe if any of the WI members read this they could do a roaring trade at their Friday market at Castle Hall. I have been known to pass off WI cakes as my own !
