Has anyone been in the Post Office recently and noticed the flies ? I was in there yesterday morning. Got to know lots of new people whilst waiting in the queue for over 20 minutes ! Also there seemed to be loads of little flying insects around the barrier through the middle of the queue. Has anyone else noticed this ?

I was is there yesterday, nothing showing. May have been the thunder flies from the storm in the morning. They die pretty quickly.

That would make sense. I was in there shortly after the downpour, but I thought thunder flies only came out in the Summer.

The flys probably hanging around in hope, waiting for people in the queue to 'pass-on', as the wait is so long!!!. Why do they only have two people working at the busiest time of the year?

I am glad I'm not the only one to have experienced an unbelievable delay in the Post Office yesterday. I queued for 30 minutes just to send a card to the USA. One poor old lady in front of me had queued for probably the same amount of time in order to tax her car. On reaching the window she was told she was four days too early.........she had queued all that time for nothing. Having seen only two windows open, I was optimistic when two other cashiers appeared, although one went immediately to the Bureau de Change and started doing something on the computer, whilst one of the other original cashiers picked up her tea mug and sauntered off, thus leaving just two again. It would have been quicker to have got a council house!!! I think there is a business opportunity for some enterprising entrepeneur selling coffee and sandwiches to the poor devils in the queue. Still there's hope on the horizon, they are talking about shutting more post offices........that's going to be really helpful!!

Where they are breeding and what they are feeding on, will need to be investigated. If anyone does get as far as the post office counter, perhaps they might suggest a management call to Environmental Health for advice.

I think there was a change in management or company that runs our post office a while ago. Since then service has been slow, time-consuming, miserable, surly and on one memorable occasion rude, patronising and high handed - all I did was ask for some information with using words such as "please" & "may I". Most of the negatives I have experienced are directed at one mature lady server, with the lack of smiles and general apathy extending to all employees. I dread having to go to the post office due to all of the above.

Those flies sound really disgusting. I'm surprised none of the staff have complained. They must have a kitchen full of rotting food or there's something living in the tunnels under Fore Street.

Thanks for the warning about the wait I decided to do my car tax on line and got the stamps and posted the parcels from Bengeo, a much more pleasant experience

What do you print the stamps on to? Do you need the labels that they use at the post office that have two stamps per label?

Car tax online is a great idea. Just a shame you can't MOT it online when you realise the MOT has run out and you need to get your car taxed!
