free carpet cleaning?
On Sunday I was given a 'free' raffle ticket by someone going door to door. They asked for my phone number to tell me if I've won, which I gave without thinking.
I've just had a phone call from the same company wanting to clean my carpet for free. They wanted to come tonight (I said no as baby asleep). I couldn't do tomorrow either so they said they'd ring next week.
Apparently there is no catch, this is just for marketing?
Anyone else had this? It sounds fishy to me!

They will clean a bit of your carpet (1 square metre). The rest of your carpet will look cr@p and they will offer to clean the rest of it at a price.
Old con trick.

A friend in Hertford had this happen to her a few weeks ago.
They will not clean your carpet. It is a scam to sell you a vacuum cleaner. And you will not believe the price..........£3,000
Yes, three thousand pounds. They are very assertive, to the point of aggressive, using all the standard pressure sales tactics like faking phone calls to their manager who 'authorises' a reduction in the cost. They even offer you finance.
In the end the only sales they make are to the gullible or those who cave in to the pressure of their sales tactics.
You should ignore their calls or be very blunt in your refusal to have no more to do with them.

It's Kirby. Don't invite them in. They will show you how the cleaner works and even suck up the crap from your mattress to show you what you are missing out on. Costs upwards of £1500 for the cleaner.
Tell them you are registered bankrupt - that will get rid of them.
Be aware, they are termites and will try any trick to get you to sign.
