Wireless Internet
I have an NTL Broadband connection but want to make it wireless. Anyone have any ideas or even a product or products that will do the trick?

It's actually quite straightforward. Assuming your username betrays your address then that makes me a neighbour and I am obliged to offer assistance. That said I'd rather not play it out through this medium so go and throw an email to me through my personal profile.
Don't be put off by the content of my previous posts - I'm not nearly as daft as they suggest... Actually that last statement isn 't entirely true but I am sincere in my offer.

OldCross, you will need a wireless router. Make sure that mentions cable broadband on the box. Don't buy one that is ADSL broadband as it won't work.
Also, don't buy Belkin stuff. I've found it very unreliable. We use Netgear at work which seems pretty good.

Yep....be careful what you buy, these wireless routers can also be a pain in the backside to set up!
I recommend getting a D-Link Wireless router from PC World, AVOID Belkin as John said :)

I have NTL Broadband and had a netgear router, and it caused me lots of problems so I switched it for a belkin router about a year and a half ago. Its been on permanently since then (apart from the occasional power cut) and I`ve had no problems.

I use a NetGear WGR614 and it was very easy to set up and has been no problem.

Make sure you set up a secure network too - its amazing how many people are happy for (or ignorant of) others to be downloading God knows what through their connection.

I have just reclaimed my computer having installed a new laptop for my daughter. It has wi-fi installed. I was amazed that as soon as we turned it on it said there were about a dozen wireless connections live at that moment and so many unsecured. Needless to say at the moment it is ethernet enabled.
