Forum Abuse
Unfortunately, a small number of members are abusing the forum by using it as a chat room.
This service is provided free of charge for members and visitors alike as a means to discuss local issues, to inform and as a general information resource for the town.
Providing this facility costs money and moderation is necessary to ensure structure and integrity in the discussions. This moderation takes time and effort and sometimes requires difficult decisions to be made that not everyone will agree with.
Everyone is welcome to contribute here, but those contributions should be relevant to the aims of the forum.
All members should be aware of the terms they agreed to when joining the forum.

Do you feel the forum is being hijacked by a number of familiar forum personalities?
I believe that folk commonly and comfortably post here out of the belief that the platform has visibility. Enforce an impersonal adherence to the 'policy' and the place will disappear up it's own khyber.

Though guilty on many counts, I do agree in part with both Admin and Herbert. The forum does risk becoming an extension of last nights pub conversation at times and that must increase the burden on the moderator. A lot of people here seem to know each other and meet regularly, judging by the quantity of "conversational" personal greetings. However, humour and quips which are generated by the subject itself, rather than a prior social meeting, ensure entertainment and take the heat out of arguments which are often heading towards being too personal or offensive. Without a balance, there is a danger that the forum would either become populated entirely by whinging, obsessive personalities with an axe to grind, or bland drivel. Admin gets it about right, but we can tell when the load is getting too high by a sudden rash of wholesale deletions. [:)]
