History of Wallfields House
Does anyone know anything of the history of Wallfields House, Pegs Land? (Now council offices).

There is quite a lot of information in the book on West Street avaliable from the Museum or HALS, what did you want to know?

Built 1810
Thomas Nicolson original owner until 1829
a Miss Hatton was living there in 1836
Thomas Sworder bought it in 1850's
in 1914-18 war it was used as a VAD hospital for wounded soldiers then reverted to private use until taken over by the Hertford Rural district Council.

And well worth the price, I keep finding more info every time I look, still have not found a referance to my GGGGrandfather in wallfiled Alley............ yet
