To get into the GBG the establishment has to sell real ale to start with and at a consistent quality too. Then the pub/club/hotel/bar has to be recommended by a CAMRA member to the branch and then it is surveyed by members in groups or individually and then a voting procedure takes place at CAMRA HQ in St. Albans. South Herts branch only has an allocation of approximately 24 so the selection is very difficult. Dobbin and I are really chuffed that we have managed to get the Black Horse in for the second year running bearing in mind that we have only been here for two years (second anniversary is tomorrow in fact). The previous entry in the GBG was in 1988!! Many thanks for your congratulations. (Just a sneaky mention that the Rose and Crown in Ware have been included this time around. Congratulations Liam and Richard.)
