Late Postal Deliveries

Are any other businesses not receiving their mail until lunchtime?

I seem to remember that domestic households got some notice or other to say that we would only be getting one delivery and if we didn't like it, we could arrange to collect our own post from the sorting office. It didn't mention how much they would be paying me to do this though.....

Have you tried asking neighbouring businesses if they have got your post? Our postman is hopeless. We regularly get letters for our neighbours (up to 10 doors away) and letters for people living in other roads with the same house number!

It's not that the post isn't arriving - it's that it doesn't turn up until lunchtime. We're talking sacks here, not just a few letters - postie delivers it in a van!

our domestic post never arrives before 11am - it is usually well into the afternoon. and we only get 1 delivery a day. after a bank holiday we don't even bother looking for post - it always takes a couple of days to kick in again.

I almost received my parcel today! After waiting for two weeks, an item i bought on ebay which was posted first class from Kent actually arrived yesterday, unfortunately we were not in and they left a calliing card saying i could collect it. So i have gone down the sorting office today to pick it up and 'guess what' they've bleedin lost it! although the chap did say "it's not officially lost...just missing"! What a Mickey mouse mail service we pay for. 'Good luck' to anyone else entering the Royal mail lottery service.

My kids deliver the free paper on Wednesday. The other week one of them couldn't do it so me & the missus did it on the Thursday morning. Having finished the round, we bumped into our new postman on the way back home. He had a go at us for not pushing the papers all the way through the letterboxes. When we got home we found that he had delivered 2 letters for our neighbours (correctly addressed) to our house. Next time I bump into him, he gets a sarcastic comment.

Does the Post Office not check to see if the people they employ to post letters can read anymore. We're now on to our 2nd illiterate postie. The other day, he managed to deliver letters for THREE different roads to us. When I showed him the following day, he didn't seem to think it was a big deal. Even when I explained that I was expecting a job offer and was worried it could have been delivered anywhere. It seems to be catching. We had a pizza wrongly delivered tonight as well. Or is it just our house?

I know of 2 people (next-door neigbours) that have had passports delivered to the wron address. We were lucky and ours was brought around to us by the recipient, but our next door neighbour had to phone up and was told - it was put through a hardwood door with brass fittings. Most hardwood doors tend to have brass fittings and they are not an unpopular choice of door. Go Figure

jez, we are obviously very close neighbours! As I understand it, the passports needed to be signed for but no one was in so the postman just put them through "a" letterbox. Edited by - JohnSmith on 11 Jul 2004 15:37:39

We quite often get post for the same number in a different road too. One time we got a parcel just left on our doorstep - was for another road - obviously the standards have slipped for whatever reason.
