Really? OK, here goes: I think any driver who parks on the pavement, on double yellow lines, or inappropriately in a disabled or parent with child slot should have their car confiscated and their licence taken away. I hate prog rock. Could Wrapper or Jayzee please ask Martin if he'd lend Aaron Lennon to Aston Villa for a season or two? And if Arsene isn't using Theo perhaps we could give him a run out. Pray for Freddie. People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. Oh this is fun!! Support The Marquee and anything else that tries to give the community something that's different and fun. Support local traders. Encourage a "let's have a go" rather than a "let's find a reason not to" attitude. Give the kids a break (see glass houses). Everybody should go to India; you'll come back a different person. Walking and cycling are fun and cheap and good for you. Oh, and please support the Castle Street Party! Is this what you meant Admin? There's more!

Why don't the idiots that run Hertfordshire Highways realise that until they make that part of Fore Street between the Shire Hall and the War Memorial one way, for traffic exiting the town, they are never going to even attempt to solve the towns' traffic problems

Why are the prison vans allowed to park all day behind Shire Hall? They contravene the "No Entry" signs, but I am told that they have dispensation to do this. Why? I am also told that the vans can park there because the drivers double up as court security. But why do they need to park on the pavement whilst they are doing this?

Good point, Wizkid! I think people are getting the hang of it more now but certainly to start with it was hilarious to note that the new off-topic threads contained lots of witty and interesting chat about Hertford whereas previously the Hertford threads had been cluttered with people discussing things like their favourite cheese, why football is better than rugby and what they had for supper. [:)] Anyway, I want to congratulate Admin on setting up this week-long experiment, I think it's great. [8D] I have absolutely no interest in things like the holiday destinations and musical tastes of a bunch of strangers (let's face it - neither has anyone else, they just like listing their own great taste [:)]) and with a well-organised off-topic area, when I log on to this website to catch up on local issues I can easily avoid all that off-topic stuff but the people who do like it can enjoy reading and contributing to it. [;)][^]

Admin. I reckon you have done a great job in opening this up. Providing the users don't abuse it (by being well moderated) I suggest you leave the Off-topic area running for more than 7 days and see how it goes. Crikey, look at how many have contributed since the launch.
