Gotta say i love this chinese. I think its gotta be the best takeaway in hertford. best thing about it?..... you know a dish is pure quality when you tip it out and it stays in the same carton shape... pure quality! what does everyone else think?

I love it, have been having my Chinese's there for longer than I can remember. Also the the guy behind the counter is always really polite when you go in and will often call you by the wrong name but in a nice way :-) No seriously it really is good Chinese - well recommended!

Sue and her husband live round the corner from me and are lovely people BUT the one in Bengeo is slightly better. We are very fortunate to have so many good takeaway places.

Empire is great,I have never had a bad meal and the guy is really friendly and manages to get my name right ! maybe I go too often ?? I didnt even know that there is a chinese in Bengeo and I live there!! Where is it ??

Agree!! Had my first Empire ever last night and it was great! Normally use Sunlight but think will be using Empire from now on.

The perfect place to stop on the way home after a couple of pints (or after Pizza Express have buggered you about for ages). Great service, consistent food, quick. Just what you'd expect for the price.

I have tried Wok U Like, be it only once, it was OK I guess. Have also had Bill's but again it isn't up there with the Empire.

The Sunlight do some good value lunchtime specials and they also serve HUGE portions of chips. Their Chilli Beef can be a bit vicious though compared to the same dish from the Empire!

Recently had a take away from here. The price has gone up which I think is fair enough as the price hasn't changed for a couple of years I've been using this place. But the quality has gone right down. A chow mein that is 95% noodles and 5% bland meat and veg is not for me. Was this a one off?

Had a take away from there just last night. Prices may have gone up a little but I consider this place to be excellent value. The quality was just as good as always, the lemon chicken being especially tasty. In all honesty, if I order a chow mein from the Empire, I expect mainly noodles at that price. If I'm looking for quality Chinese food, I would go for Peking House and pay a bit extra.

If you like something with bite their Kung Pao is wonderful. We tried the Kung Pao from the one in bengeo twice. First time we decided there had been an error as we got something like sweet and sour. Second time we got the same thing and decided that we wouldn't go back. If I wanted sweet and sour, I'd have ordered it!
