Restaurant review website
Have just found the following website which gives its own independent "non-expert" reviews of dining in Hertfordshire. Some of our local establishments are on there and diners and restaurant owners are invited to give comments/facts about places they have visited/own and to help keep the information up to date.
Nothing spectacular about it but interesting for local diners.

I have had a look myself at this site befor there is not many from hertford on here it would take alot of people to add to it

Found "hertsdining" attached site quite empty, only a few places in Hertford were reviewed, can't say I'd use it to advise us on where to go.
Read in the Mercury last week that someone is starting up a website reviewing restaurants, shops etc in Hertfordshire that deal in good food. Don't have the paper with me right now. Will try to get the details onto here later if Mrs_P hasn't already thrown the paper away.

The site referred to was
http://www.hertfordshiregrapevine.co.uk. It's not a review site, it is a listings service, i.e. people pay to have their places advertised.

Ok but it looks like it's an amateur website set up recently by a retired couple who enjoy eating out, rather than anything to hang your hat on. I just thought it might be of interest to some of the forum members who sometimes ask..."does anyone know of a place to eat where...?"
I wonder if any of those places take Pizza Express vouchers.[:)]

As the author of hertsdining.co.uk; may I thank all for their observations; I am happy to accept the critisism. However, there are some observations i would like to make:
Yes, we are retired, and enjoy a good meal out; hopefully others do too. Our site is not professional, it actually cost a little to run (hosting, etc). We make no pretensions about this.
It is intended to county wide not just Hertford, which is a bit short of independanly owned eateries - unlike places like Ware, St Albans, Bishops Stortford, etc.
No we cannot visit them all; we rather hope readers will send us their pithy comments! in this way it will become more useful: totally without commercial influence. Bon appetite!

Mr Fagan - good luck with the site. I enjoyed reading the reviews and I do appreciate the fact that this is NOT commercially influenced
