Wiggintons closing....
Scurrillous gossip time (hey that's what forums are for) I've heard that the Wigginton's shop on the corner of St Andrew Street/Old Cross is closing. Apparently all the nick nack stuff they sell there will be re-housed in the toy shop across the road and the toy business is ending - which is a shame because the toy shop always looks sooo pretty.

Went in today - they do have a sale but it's not everything, just the nick knack's and a bit of furnitiure, nothing they don't normally put in a Sale

There's a sign on the door of the St Andrew Street shopping saying that they are moving to the former toy shop on 1st August.

Apparently they cannot compete with companies such as Toys R Us who can buy in by the lorry load direct from the manufacturers. Sad but true.

The products they sell are completely different.

Their goods are like chalk and cheese. Does that leave anywhere in Hertford (apart from Wollies) that sell toys. As Jez say's they are quality and traditional. It really is a great shame.[:(]

I agree, Little Wonders is the place to go. Wiggintons staff are often miserable and on one occasion rude. I for one won't be sorry to see them go. We need an injection of excitement in the town - not overhyped, over priced toys.

Ah, it's not just me then..!
I went into the toyshop twice and on both occasions they were very unfriendly. My then five year old asked to leave - not his usual reaction to a toyshop!
