Hi all, it's the white horse beer festival this bank holiday weekend! Very good - went last year, you wouldnt believe how much they can squeeze into such a tiny place! Dan

Are they still printing the beer glasses? They did last year, but not the year before. I'm hoping for Bagpuss, Mr Benn or Ivor the Engine...again! Anna (eternal designated driver[:(])

I just wish they didn't have to amplify the live music. It's totally unnecessary in such a small pub and ruins conversation.

Happen to know that one of the contributors to this forum has virtually all the WH festival glasses - all duly paid for.... Helped put together the display cabinet that now proudly house them around about Xmas time.....

quote:Are you talking about Compo's collection? I'm bl**dy sick of the things. They don't stack well and end up full of dead spiders. Any offers? (For the glasses, not the spiders). Mind you, they were useful to put candles in during the Friday night power cut.

I now am the proud owner of 2 White Horse Glasses. Enjoyed the Summer Lightning ad Babylon Banks, even though I seemed to be the youngest person in the pub.

quote:How many has Compo got then (glasses not spiders)? Should have guessed he would have a few. Collection belongs to a recent reply to your post - who happens to be virtualy tea-total! Nigel hasn't got a full set, but the copyright holders of Oliver Postgate should still have one for each festival that used their name.....

Don't know the total as they've been relegated to the darkest corner of the house, where all the dasturdly spiders live. The ones I can see from here are Hectors House, Captain Pugwash, The Soup Dragon and Danger Mouse, plus a Hertford Castle one, which I don't think is from the White Horse.

quote:The first Hertford Castle beer festival was in a marquee in the casle grounds. It was a joint festival organized by both Nigel and Bev (Old Cross Tavern). So I suppose that makes it a semi-White Horse festival.
