Annual Town meeting
You might all like to attend the Annual Town Meeting on Monday 3 April, 8.00pm at the Corn Exchange.
This is not an Annual Hertford Town Council meeting although all town councillors are usually present and the Mayor is chairman. It gives everybody in the town a chance to talk about and air their views about the town.
Several people are giving a presentation including the Museum, the North Road Plotholders Group and myself on 'The Hertford Town Partnership or, a year in the life of a Town Centre Manager.'
Several community awards are given and after a presentation by the Town Council there is an open forum and questions from the public.
I would appreciate an audience.[:D]

Just to let you know and apologies for the late advice but the meeting tonight has been cancelled. There will be a revised date and time advertised as soon as possible.

After the late cancellation of the previously arranged meeting the Annual Town Meeting takes place next Tuesday 25th April 8.00pm at the Corn Exchange.
This is a Town meeting, not a Town Council meeting. Members of the public are invited to ask questions at the end of the presentations on topics relating to the town. Therefore you can't ask about East Herts parking policy but you can ask how it affects parking in Hertford.

So, did anyone go? Very interesting to hear whats going on at the north road allotments - I really hope that what happens there can be extended and will take off at the other sites too ( hertingfordbury for me! )
Very poor turnout - in fact there were less than 10 genuine members of the public who didnt have a vested interest in being there ( i.e. receiving a grant )

devolution! the plot holders are running their own site now. ( and have been for a while - it's just official now thats all )
what it does mean, is that they get many more services than any other site ( grrr )

<big sigh of relief!> Had visions of building...
I used to be on folly island and defected to North Rd because of the additional bits. Park next to the plot (got no shed), at-cost shop, toilets, communal equipment, great atmos' where ignorant growers (that's me) can ask stupid questions! Which one are you on?

I see the Town Council approved devolved management and the plotholders are now the leaseholders.
Farrow&Farrow, if your plot is on this site should you not have been consulted?

I knew it was devolved when I took the plot on (only a few months ago). I'm quite happy with the situation. The site is very well run and maintained. No idea what it was like before devolution, but I've experienced a council run allotment before and it pales in comparison.

I went to the Town meeting. Interesting presentations re the Museum and the North Road Allotments. The Museum has applied for a lottery grant and needs to raise their share of cash this year (£90K). Good luck to them. The devolved allotment management sounds very effective and I was impressed by the enthusiasm.
Unfortunately the Councillors subjected us to torture by Powerpoint and microphone feedback so I can't remember anything they said.

as for the north road allotment shop - when is that open? is it open to other allotment holders? ( mines in hertingfordbury - it's still over a mile away from me but it's the closest )

As far as Iknow, it's only open for north rd allotment holders - one of the reasons why I moved site.

They said at the meeting that there was one plotholder who choose to remain a direct tenant of the council!

When the women from the museum started by apologising for not having a powerpoint presentation, I had to restrain myself from shouting out "hear, hear"![:)]
So I took the path of the true revolutionary and muttered it under my breath instead. [;)]
