Six storeys in Pegs Lane
I see from the local paper that a planning application has been submitted for the demolition of Elbert Wurlings in Pegs Lane, to be replaced by a SIX STOREY construction incorporating a new restaurant, flats and underground parking.

I'm not particularly fond of the Elbert Wurling building and actually quite like the look of the new flats going up next to it BUT what I really don't want to see is Six storeys replacing it. It is just not appropriate. I know it is on the wrong side of the A414 for the town centre but it is still something that will give thousands of by-passers an impression of the town. With the multi storey on the other side, who would think of stopping off and giving Hertford a better look?
It will look like that incongruous and monstrous tower block stuck in the middle of low-rise Potters Bar. What next? A "gherkin tower" for Hertford?
