Fight Motor Neurone Disease
Sunday January 8th 2006 will see the 2nd Black Horse "Stroll" (you can gallop if you wish)in an effort to raise funds for the fight against Motor Neurone Disease. It is a sponsored 5 mile (8 km) walk which will start at the BH at approximately 11.00 a.m. (gather at 10.30 a.m.for bacon rolls - all profits to the cause). The walk will follow the same course as last January going down past the football club, along the Cole Green Way to Letty Green and back. All are welcome. Mums, dads, grandparents, children, dogs, horses, in fact anyone who wants to help us raise funds.
Last January we raised £3,716.80 for the Red Cross Tsunami Disaster Fund. Please help us try and top that total? Sponsorship forms are available from the pub. Telephone 583630.

We have had several requests for sponsorship forms for which we thank you, but we need more people to participate to help us reach our goal.
Why not use this as an excuse to walk off your Christmas and New Year over indulgence and help raise funds for this worthy cause?

We had a superb turnout for today's walk, including several members of this forum. We now await the sponsorship money to start rolling in. Many thanks to all who participated and got a soaking. Your endurance is greatly appreciated.

Will you be putting the photo from the start of the walk on the pub website? I can then prove to some doubters that I was there on a Sunday morning, despite the "small" glass of wine the night before, and shake them down for my sponsorship money! [:D]

The pictures may already be there (under Fund Raising). I know dobbin has emailed one to the Mercury and the Herald. I will have to check myself now.

The money has started to arrive. We have £1,083 at present and that just represents six walkers.It looks as if we will top £2.5k. It would be great if we can.
If you have any money to hand in, please do it as soon as possible.

Just seen Mercury: memo to self - look at the camera when a photo is being taken!!
I got given some more money this week from people who hadn't even sponsored me. Can you still accept it?

Yes please. If you can get here before 7.30 pm this evening as we have a hand over of money. Total at present £2,836. It would be great to make it £3,000 before tonight. If not able, we can still pass it on at a later date. Thanks.

The figure that was raised up to and including 11th February was £2,846. That amount was presented last night to the secretary of the local MND Association branch. (Last minute thanks to Skanky for his kind donation)
Our thanks go our to all of you who participated in the walk and/or helped us raise such a wonderful amount of money. The MND Association were over the moon!
