I have found Anthony Davies very good. Some very nice properties on their books. http://www.anthonydavieslettings.co.uk/hertford-office.php

The letting agents are all in the back of the houses section in the mercury.

Victor - did you not read the part of the original post that says "preferably websites as he is in Holland"?

Nah your right, scan reading again! Dont they sell the Mercury in Holland? In my experience, you have to ring letting agents all the time to get the best places.

All letting agents services are poor, they charge a big lump of money for sitty on their backsides doing nothing, and then every 6 months charge the tennent £25 to print off the same contact with a different date on it! Charlatans!

Actually its £60 in our case! (Admin charge) I expect they use the finest paper and the finest ink! But go private and you can guarantee you wont see your deposit again!

from experience I would not go with Greenrose again now known as St Andrews Bureau, they will try to keep your deposit when you leave which in my case was nearly £900. They never came round to fix anything which in the 5yrs I rented with them included: Washing Machine, Central Heating (Several times), Electrics in the whole house....basically the place was falling appart but as long as they got their money from us they were happy to do nothing about it! I got my deposit by threatening legal action, but the house only got fixed up after I left and they were trying to get prospective tenants interested. You have been warned!

You must keep the pressure up on the agents to meet their obligations. And you must also keep a log of correspondence (written preferably) and any problems with the property.

We were renting via Greenrose, but they were so shoddy and kept refering us to the landlady, that we ended up rening directly. As for the deposit, I know where she lives![8D]
