Hi - has anyone had treatment for a frozen shoulder at any medical practitioners around here? Did it work? Doesn't have to be any one branch of medecine even good ole nhs if it works. I just want someone to fix it or make the condition a little better at least. Thanks again. I really value the reccomendations people put up here!

I have had knee arthiritis and frozen shoulder syndrome (on and off) since I was 18. Forget the expensive treatments, The Holy Grail for frozen shoulder syndrome (and other related ailments) is Voltaren Emulgel in a tube. Ask your GP. Good luck. My wife has two frozen shoulders & saw Ian but Physio didn't work. She is now seeing an Osteopath & having a new treatmenr called The Niel-Asher Technique, you can read about here http://www.frozenshoulder.com/the_niel_asher_technique.php It is working wonders & my wife's range of movement in her right arm is nearly back to normal & she very rarely suffers from night pain now. I suffer from frozen shoulders also. I had the injections a while ago. One worked one didn't and I'm now suffering again. You do have my symapthies.

Thanks all. I've been to the county on and off a while ago and although they were very patient there was not a lot of improvement. I will look into all the suggestions including the Neil Asher, Ian and the gel. Were Ian and the Neil Asher expensive? BTW I think I have got thru the pain stage and its now just locked...but appreciate all the sympathies anyway!

With Ian the initial assessment is £38 & subsequent treatments £36. My wife is seeing Deborah Smith, Osteopath at The North Herts Frozen Shoulder Clinic - her first consultation (including treatment) was £45 & subsequent treatments are £30. Fortunately we have PHI. Have you tried accupuncture? I had a shoulder problem, not sure if it was as serious as frozen shoulder but it was very painful and I could not raise my arm very high and accupuncture worked for me.

I have Marilyn a while ago but not a lot of improvement - but I only went a couple of times. Where did you go for treatment? Was it local to Hertford?

I started having shoulder problems last June and after a few months saw my doctor. It wasn't a frozen shoulder and I think it is important to get it diagnosed first. I was referred to a physio and after carefully graded exercises stared to improve. I decided not to have an injection as it doesn't cure - just masks the pain. I still continue the exercises and am mostly back to normal.

Thanks Pat good advice. In my case I've had it diagnosed by GP a while ago as FS... Had one on the other shoulder ages ago as well which I think was quicker to recover - hence questions in here. I'll have a look moufflon - did you have a similar condition?

I can recommend The Basset Clinic - the chiropractors at Port hill - 01992 501659. I have been going there on and off for a few years for a whiplash injury and have recently seen Crystalina (not sure about that spelling - it's Greek)& I think she is excellent. The initial assesment is about £35 & £30 thereafter (unless it has gone up in the last few months) Good Luck
