I wonder if this will make the national papers? It's the sort of thing some of them like - 'bungling council workmen's festive foul-up' etc I have to be honest and say that I truly couldn't see what was wrong with David's picture, above. [:I] I thought the lights were arranged in some sort of shooting-star design, I didn't realise it was meant to represent a tree so I'd probably have made the same mistake as the hapless workers! [:)] They don't have this problem in Ware, where the same simple strings of coloured lanterns have festooned the shops every December since the 1950s, by the look of them! [;)][:)]

Well it's another sunny day, the upside down christmas tree is not yet back, but.....all the lights are on again! (it's mid-day) Yes this is true - we have 24 hour christmas lights on Fore Street - and they are on before the official 3rd December switch on extravagaza. I'm sure there's a song somewhere in this...'the sun is out, the sky is blue, the lights are on, I know it's true....' (with apologies to Leo Sayer)

I like Ware's Christmas lights. Simple but effective. Hertford may have lights made by the 'best' but I've always found them pretty boring. Althought the topsy-turvy effect has rekindled my interest in them [;)]

The Light-Fantastique is quite incredible, considering the number of workmen involved in erecting them on Wednesday evening: ladders, cherry-pickers, lots of hard-hatted workmen in luminous vests, two of whom were having screamingly loud conversations into mobile phones about the very one that was upside down. Perhaps they were talking to each other? [:0]

It gets better. The upside down light is now gone (forever?) but we now have 'black bag' (the faithfull border binliner for any Viz fans). Come along to Fore Street and view our binliner! A huge thank you must go to the German pool pyramid formation team that must have switched their practise session to Fore Street yesterday evening. Herr Gruber, was able to stretch out at the top of the formation and remove the bag, I hear. Alternatively, the wind must have changed direction. In any case the bag has gone. Hurrah!

I dont believe it, i thought that was one of the better decorations, It somehow added a bit of class to the whole thing....Hmmm never mind!
