The Met Office are prodicting more significant snowfalls over the coming 24 hours.
Snow showers are likely to be heavy and frequent at times, giving further falls of several centimetres in many areas.
The unusually cold periods that have been seen since mid-December are being blamed on an extreme Artic Oscillation.
Temperatures on Thursday night are expected to drop as low as -6C.
