The County and District Councils are currently conducting a review of transport systems in Hertford and Ware.
The Urban Transport Plan will be completed in April 2010 and will feature a programme of highway schemes and measures, taking into account the impact of changes such as new housing and jobs in the area. The plan covers the period up to 2021, but will be reviewed after five years.
A preliminary report has identified a number of issues, including congestion along the A414 relief road, Fore Street, Old Cross and Railway Street; rat-running in Lower Bengeo, shortcomings at the town's bus and railway stations, poor subways and lack of cycling provision.
