Ashleys Plan Flats

Ashleys in Maidenhead Street have submitted a planning application to extend upwards.

The retailer is planning to add two floors to the building to accomodate four flats.

Most of the buildings fronting Maidenhead Street are of two storeys, although the neighbouring development at Dolphin Yard has three floors. However, a large fire in 1917 destroyed a number of three-storey buildings on the site now occupied by Ashleys.
