Enforcement action is to be taken against an unauthorised Hertford Nail Bar, but not against a womenwear shop sporting unauthorised signage.
D&J Nails in Railway Street were refused a retrospective planning application for change of use but have continued to trade. The shop is designated retail space and use as a nail bar or salon is regarded as a service. The District Council's Development Control Committee agreed with a planning officer's recommendation that action be taken against the nail bar.

At the same meeting, councillors declined to support a recommendation that enforcement action be taken against Hertford Women's Society after they were twice refused Listed Building Consent for a new shop sign. The new sign was put up over the original Wigginton's sign, which form part of the fabric of the listed building in St.Andrew Street. The Committee suggested that the shop might like to resubmit their application for further consideration.
