Bircherley Green
Bircherley Green shopping centre was built in 1983 on the site of the old bus station and was home to Waitrose, Boots and New Look. A century ago the site was known as Butcherley Green and housed the town's poorest residents prior to the slum clearance of the early 20th century that made way for the original bus station and car park.
Other shops in Bircherley Green included Holland and Barratt, W.H.Smith, Fancy Nails, Claire's Accessories, Specsavers and the popular Serendipity delicatessen and coffee shop.
The centre closed for redevelopment in 2018 but the project was abandoned in 2019.
