River lea flood warning
Did anyone else get an early morning automated call from the environment agency to say the River Lea has a flood warning ? Has it flooded anywhere ?
Re: River lea flood warning
I know someone in Riversmeet who has been on flood alert all morning...........................
Re: River lea flood warning
I had the automated call at 05.45 this morning.
However, the flood alert was issued at 8pm Friday night.
So nearly 10 hours had passed, during which time properties could have flooded.
What's the point of that?

Re: River lea flood warning
Were these Flood Alerts or Flood Warnings? There's a difference.
Re: River lea flood warning
I was wondering if Riversmeet might be affected by our glorious weather at the moment. I've had my eye on a house there but the floods are a scary prospect! That may be why the house hasn't sold yet. Shame as it's lovely. Having said that, my garden in North London has no grass left whatsoever - it's just a mud bath and has been every year since I've lived here. Too much clay and rain!

It was a Food Alert - 'flooding is possible'.Steve wrote:Were these Flood Alerts or Flood Warnings? There's a difference.

I don't live in Riversmeet but I'm not far away. The last time I can recall the water levels reaching the houses was in either 2000 or 2001 - if there is someone on the forum who actually lives there please feel free to correct me.KatyBusby wrote:I was wondering if Riversmeet might be affected by our glorious weather at the moment. Riversmeet is shown on the Environment Agency map as being at high risk of flooding, and this will be reflected in property insurance quotes.
