Proposed Waste Incinerator

Following rejection of a proposed waste incinerator at Barnfield in Hatfield, a new site less than 5 miles SE of Hertford has been identified by the County Council. Veolia is expected to submit a formal planning application for the Rye Park site in the Autumn.

Most Scandinavian countries use incinerators and you know how green they are ! I think if its highly regulated you will probably not have a problem with chemicals in the air, but it must be absolutely top spec.. we all moan about this type of thing but if we continue to use products that cannot be recycled we have to take responsibility for their safe disposal too...

Yes - there will, inevitably, be a clamour from concerned citizens frightened that toxins released from evil incinerators will cause all sorts of science fiction type health issues.

Truth is, done properly and well regulated, it is better than sticking it in a hole in the ground.

The more reasoned objections are usually more to do with the volume and timing of lorries going to and fro.

Well yes - the same applies the the aforementioned holes in the ground ;)
