Independant garage for japanes cars

Post by gregb » Tue 05 Jan, 2016 7:02 pm

Hi

I'm looking for an independant garage in or around Hertford that can daignose a problem on a Lexus. Can anyone recommend someone who is familiar with Japanes cars?

Cheers

Greg

I would just phone around and ask, I am not sure there is a specific issue with Japanese cars.

I have a very old Japanese car (a 1989 model) that is very rare and I take it an MG Rover specialist because I trust them and it is a car and at that age, quite a simple one. They do not work on any other car that is similar in terms of age etc but are unfazed by it.

They are not in Hertford though as I have used them for 18 years, long before I moved to Hertford.

There are many good independents in Hertford from what I have heard, I am just being loyal.

It's a niggly fault that a normal independent has failed to fix after replacing a few parts and charging me nearly £200. I'd rather try someone who is familiar with the type of car in the hope they have more of an idea of the problem through their experience.

You're right Greg. In my layman's experience of the modern car, things are often less than straightforward, even for a niggling fault. I'd agree that it is worth searching out a specialist with the right software, tools etc which seem to be bespoke to each make these days.
