MultiDad, two questions for you.
1. Parking to be subsidised, yes or no?
2. Fuel duty increase to cover the cost to the tax payer, yes or no?

Re: Should Parking Be Subsidised?
One of the main problems of asking people to subsidise parking is they believe that motoring isn't subsidised already. But it is. Hugely. The amount people pay in VED, fuel duty and VAT on that barely covers the cost of maintaining the roads, policing them and covering the NHS bill for people killed...

Re: Women's Cycling Tour
So I had a mini rant at the council over the weekend and they've now put a couple of links up on the Hertford Town Council and Go Hertford websites. It also says that there will be some stuff on in Parliament Square, including some exercise bikes put on by Hartham Leisure Centre because that's exact...

Re: Women's Cycling Tour
Lack of any promotion for this by the council is embarrassing. Here's an opportunity to get lots of people into the town centre for the biggest sporting event that's ever happened in Hertford and it's been completely wasted.

Re: Sustainable Transport and the East Herts draft District
re: Buzz's suggestions. This all frees up some of the pinch points, but all you'll end up with is traffic going faster through the town. And then if it's faster, more people will then use the town centre as a cut through, and then it'll eventually clog up again. The easiest thing to do is to remove ...

Re: Sustainable Transport and the East Herts draft District
I'd say Hertford is at Gridlock. Regulary now on Saturdays the town is at a standstill. For example, I cycled to town on Saturday at about 11am. In the time it took me to pick up some new brake pads from Highway Cycles and then go down to Sainsbury's to do a small shop of about £20 worth of basics, ...

Re: sustainable transport and the East Herts draft District
Agreed. Hertford is at gridlock now. Without any concrete sustainable transport solution, the town will just implode under its own particulate matter. I'll be adding my comments to the plan.

Re: Solicitor for conveyancing
We used Breeze & Wyles when we last moved 5 years ago. Used to be on Fore St. but since moved to Stag House. They did what we asked them to without any drama.

Quite. I take it all back.Ted Badger wrote:The town is just coming to a standstill now....
However, from what I saw from my bike it's not the lights causing the problem, but people's interpretation of what the colour red means.

Re: Old Cross 5-way Traffic Lights
Usually with these things, they book more time than they actually need.
In reality they'll probably just do roadworks for something like three days starting anywhere in the period 28th Feb to 11th April.
I may be wrong.
