I don't think you'll get very far with 'I will contact the council see what can be done.' Unless there are yellow lines there that are being ignored. Obstruction is a police matter. And good luck with getting that enforced - you only need to look at how pavement parking goes completely unchallenged....

Tell the County Council about it to try and get something done. Give them as much detail as possible at http://www.hertsdirect.org/services/tra ... vices/hfr/. It's probably best not to get out of the car with a camera and tape measure - leave that to them!

The Sainsburys story rings true. I believe Morrissons have pulled out of an application for a new store In Hemel Hempstead as they were weren't allowed to build petrol tanks by the river.

Thankfully we are fortunate enough to have very good schools in Hertford. And although the traffic (if you really have to drive) is routinely described as a 'nightmare' it is nowhere near as bad as our larger towns like St Albans and Watford where parents regularly stew in traffic for 40 minutes to ...
