Re: Proposed parking fee changes at council car parks.

It should also be noted that all the other charging bands have been pushed back 30 minutes, so now instead of paying £1.50 for an hour and a half you now only pay 80p. Similarly 2.5 hours will now cost only £1.50 instead of £2.20.

Re: Travellers

Saw them driving up Mill Road around 8:30pm. I wondered where they'd pitch up.

So it's the District Council that are throttling the town centres with exorbitant business rates and deterring shoppers with expensive and impractical parking schemes, whilst the Town Council put the Christmas decorations up?
That's it! :)

Re: Hertford Cameras closing

Not in the least bit surprised. A good example of a business that has completely failed to adapt to the modern retail environment. They don't even have a website. And the current owner is never going to win any cheerful trader awards. Given the challenges that independent high street camera shops fa...

Re: Waitrose rumour

I know that the town council and Diego would bend over backward to keep Waitrose in Bircherley Green. I've always had the impression that the council were never really that bothered about encouraging business over getting the most they can out of business rates and parking fees. I think you may be ...

Re: Waitrose rumour

A Waitrose spokesman said: “There is a long way to go, but if we were to get a planning consent in the future for a store at Great Amwell, it would see the relocation of Waitrose Hertford, however we will look at whether it will be feasible to retain a presence in Hertford as well. If I was a cynic...

Re: Waitrose rumour

There is a post on spotted saying Waitrose is closing in Hertford and a new one is being built as part of Van Hagues. Complete twaddle. Anyway Steve, as to my original post wich you dismissed: hmmmmmmmm! Half twaddle, I'll give you that. However, at the time of the original post there was absolutel...

Re: Waitrose rumour

Slightly surprised they're thinking of a large store at VH as I wouldn't have thought planning permission would be easy for an out of town store - even though its on the site of an established retail outlet a supermarket is different to a garden centre, I'd imagine some of the locals may be quite u...
